Social welfare wont accept letter

I was casually subbing through out the year in a local school.
Ive been on casual dockets which were being filled out by the school secretary as she does the wages.
I rang social welfare a few weeks ago to find out what I would need to do come Summer when the school closes. I was told that at the end of June I would be automatically switched to job seekers.
I went in to the social welfare office last week to tell them that the school was closing and I was told to just get a letter to say im finished work.
So I went to the secretary who typed out a letter with my name, address, pps number stating that my employment had ended with the school and she signed and stamped it with the official school stamp.

I brought it into social welfare but they wouldnt take it, they said it needs to say the date I last worked in the school, even though all my casual dockets are up to date, filled out, signed and stamped by the secretary who did the letter.

I went to the school but the secretary is gone and I cant get hold of the principal.

What can I do? I dont understand why they wont accept the letter, the last date that I worked is marked on my dockets.

Go back to the local office and let them that the secretary is gone for the summer because the school is closed which is the reason that you're there. If they give you bs, ask them as to how they expect you to be able to get a letter.

If they're still refusing to process your claim, ask to speak to the hse rep for an emergency payment.

Maybe the department to education could provide a letter. They should have records.

    Thanks.
They are a nightmare to deal with, the woman at the desk was so rude, she wouldnt listen just kept talking over me and repeating herself.
If I dont get it sorted I will have to go to the department for a letter but it could take them weeks to send one out to me, if they even remember to do it, theyre a bit of a nightmare to deal with themselves.

Its the person you get when it comes to social welfare offices! Unfortunately there are some bxxxtards who actually dont wanna help yet have a customer facing role...

I would try your best to get in contact with the secretary or school again and again, and if not then tell the office you've tried and tried but cant get a hold of them, there is always an alternative so they should give you an option.

Just keep the SW office sweet though.

I know it can be annoying when they need written confirmation of something they 'technically' can see in front of them, but thats just the way these places work.

    Anyway best of luck.
