My oh and I had some friends over this evening and we were chatting. I was telling them about when I worked in a place and we used to play the card game Switch at lunch every day. I was joking with them saying that it was no coincidence that the majority of times, I came first or second in the game.

So we decided to play a bit of switch but unluckily for me, I was beaten in every game :/ ****! :D

Anyhow, we switched the game to poker which I have no clue about but out of four games, I won three of them :pac: - my best win with 3 tens and two nines :D

Im not too clued up on poker so what are your tactics ah'ers? What are the best technique's? Do you play it safe? Is it good to bluff etc?

Card games in general? Do you play them anymore? I've very fond memories of my parents playing Dawn together. Think they changed up the rules a bit for two player. I used help them add up the scores :)

:pac: I won't be going that far iloveyourvibes :)

Easy to bet when it's not real money and I wouldn't be a gambling person anyway tbf but the odd card game is fun.

Want to set up at poker night maybe at home now though. Could be fun :) I need tips for my game though :)

    Tip numero uno

Get everyone to put in a tenner like a tournament and at the end the winner can take it or you can use it to order food. It makes it more interesting. ;)
Do it like a tournament not a cash game. Even if you don't play for money. In fact particularly if you don't play for money. Only do a cash structure if you play for money it doesn't really make sense otherwise.

    Get a decent poker set.

Choose an easy game like holdem. Anyone can learn it in five mins. Plus there is a lot more action so it's interesting.

Don't have HUGE stacks the game will go on forever! You kinda gotta decide how long you want the game to go on for.

Also stack sizes are another reason to choose a tournie structure as you all have with the same stack size at the start and no one throws their stack around.

Learn things like how to make side pots etc.

You can also use blinds or antes to speed things up.

As for strategy. It's all heart and courage!

    HAVE FUN! :P

You're bluffing. You're not that handsome in RL. :P

OP, I hear tell you gotta know when to fold them, know when to hold them, know when to walk away. And absolutely never count your money at the table or at least not until the dealing is done.

    Good luck.
