Jobseekers query

    Hi there
    This is a strange query.
I'm 36. Worked from when I was 16 full time and have done until I was made unemployment a few weeks ago (29th of may 2019). This was due to the fact my contract came to an end.

I was looking for work from the 29th of may until I contacted the dole office to ask could I go on jobseekers benefit (jb) and I have only 4 days ago collected my first jobseekers benefit payment.

While still looking for work and understanding that jobseekers benefit (JB)only lasts 9 months i have today found out I am 4 weeks pregnant (through ivf) early days i know.

So I will find it harder now to be taken into a new job if I'm lucky enough that this pregnancy actually works (please God)

What I'm wondering is if it does work and I don't get a job- my JB will expire at the end of Feb around the same time I hope I'm due.

Is the only thing I'm entitled to then jobseekers allowance which is means tested? My hubby is in full time employment and gets 900 euro a week. We rent a property but he has a property in county mayo that he has rented out. We have no savings. Would I def not get JA??

    I am available for work.

    Sorry for the essay.

    Any help would be appreciated
    Thank you

Yes I will be available for work.

I meant more so after the baby is born.

Sick certs are a possibility after the birth.

If your husband has income of €900 per week then you won’t be eligible for JSA or WFP when your JSB runs out.
Where did illness creep into the mentions?

But why do you think that you will find it harder to "be taken into a new job because you're pregnant"?

You aren't required to disclose the fact that you're pregnant to an employer at interview and, at only one month gone, it isn't going to be visible at interview.

If you can get a job, be sure to check out Maternity Benefit, which is the non means-tested payment that you'll be eligible to receive when you go on maternity leave.
