Gaming Laptop

Hi all. First post on boards so apologies if this question has been raised on an existing thread.

I’m looking to buy a laptop for gaming in the coming month. I’ve been told that a P.C. For gaming is preferable over a laptop by a few people, but I’m moving abroad for work shortly so this isn’t an option for me.

I’m looking to a mid range model for something in the region of €1000. Is this realistic? Ideally something with decent performance that will last a few years. Looking for tips/ suggestions from people for where I should buy from or start looking. Also on what sort of system specs I should be looking for. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

this is a very good deal for £700 sterling going at saveonlaptops. it's a good reliable site that delivers to Ireland. it's a deal of the week so not sure how long it will last.

    i7 and 1050ti

1050ti will run most games at 1080p - might have to go to medium settings on some games as opposed to high

there were thermal problems with the older version of this laptop but the 505 version seems to have fixed them.

    reviews https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-TUF-FX505GE-BQ153T.342836.0.html

has a 128gb ssd for boot and most used game and a 1tb hd for main games storage.

for the money you won't do better. 1000 is the lower end for gaming laptops really. 1300/1400+ is where mid-range starts.

the most recommended price/value gaming laptop at the moment is the one in this review with a more powerful graphics card but it seems to be not at a good price in Europe

Having spent the last week looking on the website you provided, save on laptops, I've narrowed the search to these 2 models

    HP OMEN 15-dc0013na
    ASUS TUF FX505GM-AL280T
( Sorry cant post links, new user)

Which one would you go for?

    Thanks.

the Asus 505 model fixed the over-heating of the 504 models afaik

they are pretty close in specs

asus has more ram and is a bit lighter but hp has nvidia gync and is maybe better built overall with better keyboard and thunderbolt 3. easy to add 8gb ram later for cheap altho 8gb is still fine for most games

probably would go with the HP

but I might be tempted to spend another 50 sterling on this for the more powerful 1660ti. will defo give your laptop another year over the 1060 in the graphics stakes

the new i5 9300H is a decent match for this gpu .

I have that model. The screen is by far the best I've ever used on a laptop. The bios also comes with power options for the CPU, you can pull another hour of battery life from it making changes in it. I have not seen any thermal throttling on the thing either, vent heat and temps are very good. Enjoy!
