A couple of my treated timber raised beds are starting to show signs of age, so, following "Self Sufficient Me" on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJZTjBlrnDHYmf0F-eYXA3Q
(the guy is hilarious combined with very good advice)
....I've started building a few new beds (flat pack).
    Benefits being, higher.....less stooping.
    Fairly bomb/weather proof.
    No rot.

    Converted.

They can be double that size....circular, square etc.

Can I ask where you got these from?

Maybe a daft question but do these have a base? If so I assume you leave it out when using as a raised bed.

    No base.
You wouldn't want a base really........drainage and worm access.

That might upset anyone buying them and assuming the had a base which is what you'd assume you'd get on a product for ".... balconies or patios", but I digress.

Anyone worrying about the galvanising read https://passthepistil.com/kitchen-garden-are-galvanized-containers-safe-for-planting/

Seems like a good idea, though I can't say I really like the look of them. I wonder would a length of (old) hosepipe slit longways and slid onto the top edge make it (look) a bit less lethal?

I like that idea, I was trying to think of something a bit deeper than a hose pipe to line the top of the inside so tools didn't damage the edge of the galvanised at soil level. Edit> I should have said "over" thinking.

Or even those foam swimming pool noodles yokes.

You really shouldn't have to do adaptations to a product - I'm sure there is some sort of yoke they could slide along the top edge and roll it over a bit more to make an edge, though it would have to be thought out to manage the overlaps. I think I would prefer to see them with the corrugations going the other way and coated with a dark green or brown - it would still need something on the top edge though.

Yeah.....a length of hose would do nicely alright.

Size.....as in the link above. 40cm high etc.

That silver underneath should mellow when exposed to the air like any other galvanised steel.

Sides will get pretty hot in the sun. Be prepared to do a lot of watering.
