Air con issue

Hi all, my wife has 142 C4 grand Picasso car was bought Oct 17 with one year warranty.

We didn't really notice if air con was working correctly at the time as coming into winter.

Roll on may 18 and air con really needed and wasnt fit to cool car.

Brought back to dealer who re-gassed and said all was now fine.
It worked correctly for a few weeks and again it wasn't up to the job.

Brought back to dealer in sept 18 and condenser was replaced and re-gassed.
It worked we think but yet again coming in winter again not used too much maybe just a bit on damp days.

Now in last few weeks as temp started to rise it is not cooling the car. Question is should the garage stand over this and fix?
I know I should have returned sooner but I am not equipped to test how effective it is working except on hot days.

I feel there is an underlying issue which was never fixed or discovered from day one.
Any ideas of what might be up I am assuming the garage would have tested for leaks prior to re-gassing twice.

    Tough to call tbh.

They fixed the a/c but it failed repeatedly, and is now out of warranty.

A/c should be used frequently incidentally, as the rubber hoses will perish if the lubricant isn't circulated.

    Thanks for that info.

Yes totally agree very difficult to diagnose, it was used regularly post purchase as climate control was used but prior to that I can't comment. I just have gut feeling there has been a leak since purchase as re gassing fixed it temporarily twice. Thanks for response. Is there there different gas as one garage told me me they didn't have the correct gas !

Needs to be used weekly, winter and summer)

As already stated, it's a tough one to judge, but I cant see the garage standing over it to be honest.

I'd say get ut fixed independently.
AC needs to be used often to keep it working.
I leave mine in all the time, winter and summer hot and cold.

As Dexter2019 says "AC needs to be used often to keep it working", most people assume its designed to only cool the air but it also keeps windows from fogging up, you should have discovered that it wasn't working correctly much earlier imo

I think air con is so important it should feature on the driving test, it's a lifesaver in the winter clearing windows.

During winter the de-fog front sceeen button turns on AC and full fan and window clears. This will happen with or without ac actually working but will take longer without ac I reckon. AC was used all through the year as climate control decides when it should use or not depending on set temp against ambient temp well that's what my car seems to do anyways I stand corrected on that. I always use AC in my car all year round gives a fresher feel. So I definitely feel the problem was not caused from it's not from lack of use. We always set the temp on car and let it do it own thing and generally there's no issue as it gets there win guessing without ac doing much.
