So I went to buy a new Seat Ateca...

So I went to my local showroom with my configuration in hand:
    * Excellence Spec
    * Pertrol 1.5 DCG (Automatic)
    * 5 Extras (adaptive cruise, android link etc.)

I have a 161 Cactus to trade and was looking to avail of the 0% PCP offer (I even have cash on hand for a deposit - well in the bank anyway).

    Sales man says - no.

Long story short, they will only honor the current promotions on cars delivered and registered now (IOW cars in stock) but won't honor new cars ordered today for delivery in the future...

I find this really odd especially since they are supposed to have a big sales promo next week...

Promotions are to encourage sales before the end of the month, surely, as anyone who was gonna buy a 191 would wait 3 weeks and get a 192 for the same money, I'd have thought?

These type of promotions are driven by sales figures for the first month or two on the 192 reg change so dealers bulk buy specs into stock that they think will be easiest to sell. Fresh factory orders can take many weeks or months to arrive so they are not so keen to give special offers.

Nah. Any offers would be for 192 as well.

Understandable that they want to clear stock.

Apparently factory order VAG stuff is very slow these days with WLTP plus most of the VAG factories usually have fixed holidays which doesn't help. People tend to get pissed off when their new car doesn't arrive when the dealer told them so the risk of cancelling in higher. I'd say they are trying to push stuff already in the country.

Factory orders are closed full stop, all sell from stock, to do with WLTP. Heard on the grapevine that should be open again end of July.

    Yeah, that's a thing, again.

A heap of stock on the ground that has to be reg'd before August or cannot be reg'd at all. Deals to be had on some obscure bits hanging around but a shortage of stock overall is keeping the prices strong.

The sales guy did say the SEAT factory is closed until July 26 - but I was clear that I would be happy to wait whatever the delivery time would be. There was no stock on the ground with a petrol 1.5 auto...

In fact one interesting comment was that there is no inter trading between dealers for petrol stock currently and no one wants a Diesel...

Had similar craic in November with an Ateca.

Only dealing with the cars coming into the country. No chance to tag on extras and get the deal.

Went with it as a very similar one coming.

New prices for when factory orders are open again & possibly new CO2 figures so he can't even price you until new prices are released. Automatic patrols wouldn't be a big seller so the chances of any being in stock is slim nevermind with the extras. Maybe try a different dealer to see if they have one in stock as standard...

    Pinch of salt.

Why not contact Seat Ireland asking them what garages have what stock available?
If they are any good they should be able to help.

Edit. A quick search on Carzone shows a few in stock alright.

Might be worth checking with this dealer OP, might be similar to what your looking for:

    https://www.carsireland.ie/detail.php?ad_id=2287637&r=s.php%3Fm%5B%5D%3D78%26o%5B%5D%3D2589%26f%3D1%26t%3D2%26yn%3D2019%26yx%3D2019%26pp%3D50%26g%3D0

And it is fairly common for different dealers to trade stock.

Thanks - that was sold when I rang about it (they are Airside and had the similar not taking any orders).

Also that one was registered so wouldn't have been eligible for the 0% finance deal...

Its very Irish that we are now in the "Seat Open Week (17th - 22nd June)" and you can't order a new car in the spec you want...

Deals are usually done on stuff that doesn't sell.

    Not such a bad shock.
Dealers ideally want to sell their current stock - and will suggest the closest they have. They will if pushed trade inter dealer. And check in country stock.

    Makes enough sense.
if you want the current special deals, its stock that is readily available.

Had Ateca Xc 1.4tsi & sunroof
Next time round Ateca SE+ 1.5tsi & dsg.
I reckon Automatics will become way more popular as we head for Electric vehicles and auto type drives, expect equal trade in value in future.

Lovely car to look at, even the Bila white (700+ cheaper) in SE+.
Ateca wins due to 0% and priced better by few K, 4-6k over equiv Tiguan that charges for every inch of costly spec added, thats included in Ateca price.

FYI I ended up with a 202 Citroen C5 Aircross (with the 0% APR + 3K scrappage deal)
