Hi guys , just a quick question does anyone know how long it takes for building control to complete once the documents have been submitted. I am moving into a new development and the house is effectively completed and just waiting sign off.

Any help will be appreciated. Move in date hinges on completion of this report.

    Depends on a few things.
Legally its a 21 day process but its done quicker in most cases.

If Building Control are actively inspecting the site, then once the Developers Assigned Certifier lodges the CCC and documentations, it goes through an Administration validation process to ensure all the correct documents are uploaded, the wording matches was commenced and that all the Certs are signed and dated properly. You'd be surprised how many Certs that get uploaded and the builder signed the wrong form, or no form at all.

Then it goes to the Technical side for the Surveyors/Inspectors to inspect the bunch of houses if they had any outstanding items they wanted to double check. Many times it little things like CO detectors, key locks on escape windows etc

Then it gets signed off by the Technical side and it gets added to the Register. The notification is instant and technically once on the Register, you can occupy the house.

If defects are found, it could delay the process considerably.
