    Hi there,

Having lots of problems with a 2010 fiesta which is still under warranty.

The last problem I had to pay for repair as garage guy said id used contaminated diesel (only use reputable garages) , car had been chugging slightly for couple of weeks and then got worse with engine failure warning.

Paid money to get it cleaned out and filters changed, car still wasnt right and 2fuel injectors were changed.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, warning light back on and car chugging like mad.. garage guy saying ill have to.pay for other 2 injectors to be done now.

My argument is ive already paid for a problem to be solved and the exact issue has come up again.. havent a clue about cars and as a female I feel like he could be giving me the run around.

5th time to be back to him with car, only bought it last oct.. other issues were faulty oil sensor and starting motor went.. told him not happy with car he said I could trade it in but only offering half of what I paid back in oct.

Have to bring car to him tonight , any advise.. am I covered under warranty to have this sorted?

    Thanks in advance

Why are they saying that you need to pay if it is still under warranty. Do you have any paperwork that says what the warranty covers ?

Warranty covers engine but as the last problem was apparently caused by me using contaminated diesel I had to pay for.it myself

Any good used car warranty should cover fuel injectors, whether petrol or diesel engine.

I suspect the kind of warranty you may have gotten on a 2010 Fiesta will diminish in proportion to the previous claims made, in that there is only so much the garage will want to pay for based on what profit they made on the car, which is and isn't your problem.

It's very simple with diesel injectors, prove it. Say you're more than happy to pay for the injectors or repairs if the fuel is proven to be of a low quality or contaminated. Get a fuel sample done ~€150 and take it from there. Without a conclusive bad fuel sample, no way i'd be taking them at their word of "it's bad fuel", sure that's far too easy of a get out clause.

Bad fuel is it? No worries, i'll get a sample tested and if it is bad, i'll pay and if it's ok, you'll pay? cool? Even just mentioning getting a sample tested should be enough to get them to their senses.

Unfortunately, if it's a small garage and an in house warranty, you're at their mercy to an extent, unfortunately.

What evidence did they give to say it was contaminated diesel? None I imagine.

It's a cop out by them.

I would be insisting that they cover the injectors if there is an engine warranty in place.

How do i get this sample done? Am I right in thinking if this problem was solved correctly in may then I should be having an issue with injectors now? Or could they have been damaged with previous "contaminated diesel"?

Really feel like hes fobbing me off at this stage, but also hard to fight it. Really do feel at their mercy

He did say there was lots of sludge last time they cleaned everything out

We use http://www.indlab.ie/ , but from the opposite end of the spectrum, we use them to prove that diesel was contaminated to move a problem back to the customer, in circumstances where this is genuinely the case.

It's rather difficult to get a conclusively bad reading, there is often scenarios where both we and them can be sure that the diesel is bad but not bad enough for them to put in writing and in these cases we take the hit on repairs as it cannot be proven, it's only fair, unfortunately.

They have a quick turnaround and only need a small sample in a clean container, cost is around €150 iirc.

I'll bet you wont actually have to use their services, threatening to use them should be enough to get you results, but if you do go ahead and get a test, i'd be confident that you will get the result you need as it's actually very difficult to prove that bad fuel is bad, unless it's chronic.

The problem is, if the garage are crooks and you have proven them wrong, will they do anything for you anyway? I'm not saying this is gospel, but I wonder had somebody mis fuelled your car etc before you bought it, they were advised to trade it in and you are inheriting their problems now. Injectors can and do fail and they are an expensive past time unfortunately. You wouldn't usually see 4x failing in such a short time frame however, without some kind of external influence.

Thanks for all the advice.. ill mention the fuel analysis, would this just analyze the current fuel.. garage guy saying this could be from ages ago and only affecting it now..

Heading out to him tonight, car on limp mode.. m50 will be fun!

Sure if the bad fuel is gone from the system, then how can he say it was bad fuel that caused the issue and not mechanical defect or excessive wear? You can only comment on the fuel in the tank at present, anything else is only speculation.

Thats what I was thinkinh.. so is it fair of him to say this could be an old issue with fuel affecting injectors now?

My issue is if it was supposed to be cleaned and fixed etc he cant charge me again for new injectors (even tho its 2 diff injectors).. feel like im bring ripped off

Surely if the garage concluded that it was dirty diesel they had the test done and will have the results available forn the OP.
I'd tell them to get stuffed and repair the car or look for a full refund!

Left car with him he'll send it back to mechanic, he agrees it should've been sorted first time, dont think he'll charge me for it.. appreciate all the help :)
