Lawnmower cutting out

    Howya lads

I've a petrol mower about two years old and when she's hot she starts to splutter and can often stop and take a while to restart. Originally I noticed it only happened when i'd push it in under a hedge or where there'd be restricted air flow but it happens out in the open now.

Spark plug seems perfect. Could it be the air filter?

What length grass are you cutting.
If its too long the mower will cut out as its designed to.

Regular cutting is key with appropriate height setting.

Irregular cutting with low height setting results in what you described.

Yes, it could be air filter. If it is drawing in dust you need to clean it regularly.

Also check the fuel is clean. Be careful refueling that no small bits of cut grass or dust etc get into fuel tank. Clean around fuel cap before opening.

If fuel is the problem then it will splutter when idling.

If it cuts out only while mowing then check height of deck. If it is too low relative to height of grass then it will bind and cut out as stated above?

    Not height of blade.

I'll check if the tank is dirty. Will drain it and see if there's any debris inside. If no improvement will try changing air filter.
