    Is there a more ignorant and annoying phrase than likes of it's only got 80k miles not even broken in. 335 klms not even broken in yet.

    It bothers me something fierce.

    Not really it depends on engine because some engine have no problem in doing 2 or 300000 miles and some other cars that barely can 100000

    That's working life of the engine nothing to do with brake in period.

    Eg new bmw motorbikes com with a rev limit for break in period of 600 miles. After that it's done broken in carry on.

    By 1000-2000 miles any engine is fully broken in. Working life is completely different

    Mint - when I can clearly see from the pics, it's non-standard and not particularly well kept.

    Actually, I don't get why "one lady owner" should be a good thing; When I see it I automatically assume it to mean "One OLD lady owner" and to me that means:

    - Oil and water levels were never checked and the engine probably ran without either for extended periods;

    - The car was driven around in 1st and 2nd gear all the time;

    - The clutch is knackered as it's been driven with the left foot resting on it;
    - It's probably full of Padre Pio pictures inside :D

    Any engine we ever do (tractors/heavy diesel) is let them run up to working temp...then drive maybe few miles

    Check for leaks etc and dyno them to bed them in

    Something I've noticed more recently is apparently everyone is a junior cert dropout. Atrocious spelling almost always accompanied by screenshots of Facebook pictures or sideways, filtered Snapchat pictures.

    Another peeve is dealers listing literally everything as an option. Yes. Obviously it has ABS, airbags and seatbelts. Does it have adaptive cruise or reversing camera? FFS. And on that note, dealers getting the spec wrong. Went to look at a car that was supposed to have a reversing camera, it didn't.

    Mint apart from the usual age related marks.

    I recently seen an ad for a new car (Think it was either for a Megane or a Clio) and they were proclaiming that DRL’s came as standard on it whereas my understanding is that they are mandatory equipment on cars since 2014/15! A bit like proclaiming it has a steering wheel or wheels fitted as standard.

    Yep. Seen one add that proclaimed the car has intermittently and full Wipers. Modern tech has went crazy.

    "Full leather" - and then the pics show a cloth interior.

    "plenty of TASTEFUL mods" - and the pictures show a ridiculous ricer with blue neons, a spoiler taken off of a scrapped Airbus, cut springs and idiotic wheels.

    And what about the pictures with the car standing in water? They're kind of less common now, but for a while they were basically in most ads...

    Years ago, I was searching for a particular car and spotted a car that I actually knew and would have been interested in except for the fact that the wanker that owned it photographed it in water...I wouldn't have particularly minded if it were a large puddle but this was on the slipway at a pier in fecking salt/ocean water so that was a complete deal breaker for me. No doubt some other wanker then bought it purely on the photograph of it in water. :rolleyes:

    100% with you on this. I was looking at a number of cars there on Donedeal and the "Extras" lists for dealers tend to take up nearly half the page. Then you read through it and it's not even extras it's things like height adjustable steering wheels, power steering and antilock brakes. I'm pretty sure they've been standard for quite some time

    Another thing I noticed some dealers doing is just copying and pasting the car description from one car to another with such barely any details about the car and then half a page on how you can get finance, trade ins etc.

    You'd think that a lot of these things are standard however I drove a 2013 van about 3 years ago and it didn't even have centra locking. Peugeot Bipper, awful yoke

    "Engine, clutch and gearbox 100%" or "Engine, clutch and gearbox 110%" - How did you measure them to be 100% or 110% or any other stupid meaningless percentage figure you just plucked out of your arse and is there a possibility that one of them or part of one of them components might be just 83% based on whatever silly made uppy scale you are using in the first place?

    "Mint condition'' - no my friend, mint condition means as when it was minted and Honda certainly wouldn't let one leave the factory in anything near that condition.

    Top spec when clearly it isn't the top spec.

    No NCT but will fly through. The only person that will tell me if the car "flies through" the NCT will be the NCT tester on the day of the test.

    I'm still amazed by the quality of the pictures people put up to "show off" their car.
    Things like no interior pics, portrait shot taken too close so half the car is missing and not even giving the thing a wash!

    My last car I sold, spent a good half day giving it good clean inside and out and spent some time on taking decent photos, no bullsh*t in the ad just the facts.
    Put the ad up Friday night, was sold Sunday afternoon.

    Whenever I see any of the these buzz words mentioned I usually move on fairly quickly.
