Flue pipe too short causing damage to roof

    Hi all,

We have our boiler downstairs and the flue is going out the front porch however the steam from it is going right up on the felt roof under the porch causing it to come loose and wood becoming damp.

Would it cost a lot for a plumber or gas fitter to put a larger flue on it?

I only got the roof fixed and I don’t want it to rot or the felt to come away from the roof.

    Thanks

Buy some lengths and strap them on.

It depends on the type of boiler, condensing or older standard efficiency.
New condensing boiler manufacturers will have dedicated flue extensions, angled diverters or plume kits and all are priced differently.
You will need to get a Registered Gas Installer to look at it and advise accordingly.
Do Not be tempted to add on bits of tubing yourself.

It’s a condensing boiler from what I gather.

Yeah I won’t be going near it myself, I’ll look for a registered gas installer this week.

Depending on the installation, it might be dangerous to interfere with the present flue without expert advice.

Only if it's a balanced flue. By the sounds of the install as it is surprised if it's anything like that

It's currently not complying with regs.

It's dangerous for an unqualified person to interfere with any gas or oil boiler flue. Doing so can dangerously alter the combustion parameters.

Photo is better than a 100 words .
    Please
+ make & model of boiler, or at least make.
    Cheers

No argument here but it's also possible to extend with no impact. Knowing what it is where and how is key .

Hi all, sorry I forgot to upload the pictures of the flue pipe in question.

See attached. As you can see it’s right under gutter and the steam goes up through the felt.

Well they made a bit of a b@ll@x of that :D
Get a decent RGI to put a straight plume kit extension piece on it so that it protrudes just past the facia.
And ask them to sweep the cobwebs out of the air intake while they're at it.

Would you have rough idea of cost for a job like this?

What's the make and model of the boiler?
