Deja Vu. Jamais vu. Presque Vu.

    Deja Vu.

Being sure you have lived through something before.

    Jamais Vu

Feeling an eery impression you have never experienced something before but you know logically that you have.

    Presque Vu

The feeling of being on the verge of an epiphany but not achieving it.

    Deja Reve
The feeling of having dreamt something you are experiencing but not having actually dreamt it.

    Deja entendu.
The feeling of having heard something before you possibly have not.

I don't know if there is one for people you feel are familiar also.

Certain drugs increase the likeliness of it. Very common over the counter ones. Like flu medicines. Dopamine too.

Some people say its split perception. In your brain actually perceives the sensory of one thing separately twice. A split in continuous perception experience for a second or two.
Dual-processing, two usually synchronous cognitive processes become momentarily asynchronous.

    Or memory reconstruction.

    Or dreams.

Have you ever experienced Jamais Vu? Or Presque VU?

    Jamais Vu

Feeling an eery impression you have never experienced something before but you know logically that you have.

Would that be like the feeling you get when you know you’ve flushed the toilet after you’ve done a big “job” but you worry that you haven’t when someone else goes to use the jacks?

Seems to happen the most when you’re “out and about” rather than in the sanctity of your own “throne room”.

There is a scene in mad men when Don Draper meets a waitress. He thinks he is experiencing DeJa Vu. Or an eery 'I know you' moment. But he actually has seen her several times before in prior scenes. But its so subtle the audience doesn't realize.
He sees her in the left about town etc. He attaches more meaning to it because of this feeling.

I've had the presque vu, quite a few times. Very strange: makes me wonder if I am clairvoyant, or nearly----

It is like straining to remember the - detail of something almost glimpsed, almost remembered - like trying to develop a blurry photograph: I'm sure I recall this - why can't I actually remember it properly - maybe it was a dream, I'm trying to remember a dream - but I'm sure it happened -

It is actually quite disorienting, even confusing.

Does it correspond with anything else?

Yes for some reason Deja Vu is the least confusing.

    How would I know?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    .

No: I've never managed to associate it with booze, or fatigue, or mood, or medicine, or anything.

It just happens now and again - usually while someone else is talking - but sometimes when alone, some sort of reminder happens - and the "half-memory" sort of almost bobs to the surface but never really becomes clear.

    How would I know?

I am not sure if you are being serious or not.

Basically Jamais vu is for example seeing a film for the second time in the same outfit with the same person and sitting in the same seat with exactly the same people surrounding you in the cinema.

And you can remember it as a memory. But you have a VERY strong feeling that this has NEVER happened before. It feels unexpected and unfamiliar.

    Its rarer than Deja Vu.

It was fascinating to me to think someone like Don Draper did could mistake simply seeing someone before for a Deja Vu or a supernatural connection.

It made me wonder if that happens often. And when you meet someone you feel you have this 'connection' with have you simply seen them before? And you are confused?

It might feel like deja vu.

And you might make something mundane into something supernatural in your mind.

I think i was having such strong 'Deja Vu' with someone ..it wasn't Deja Vu at all or a connection at all. I saw them in the background.

    I've got it! Presque vu!
