    Hi
At my wits end with this issue. My auto 2.0l passat when driven at high revs/or fast acceleration stutters to a stop no matter what speed. Its almost as if the car is braking to give you an idea. You can feel the surge. Gets worse as car warms up. Problem came all of a sudden. If i take my foot off the gas i can drive on again if i accelerate slowly. Up to 2k revs/ 110kmph. Its been with 2 garages. Including a main dealer. Had intake manifold and new turbo /acctuater fitted. All diagnostics, rev fuel valves filters done. Turbo coded everything. last garage gave up. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction... Thanks ðŸ™ðŸ™ðŸ™

Could be anything really, DPF, injectors, EGR. Hard to say. What year is it? What's the mileage? What's been definitely checked?

    Hi
Its 2010. 180k. Just had gearbox oil changed too. No fault codes at all. New vw fitted mainfold. Reconditioned turbo. And some other filters but those are the big ones i had done. They were showing faults but the problem arose after a friend of mine looked at it. He swears he only removed the fuel rail and return fuel valves for the injectors. My garage looked at these and replaced the valve but to no avail.

VW did 4 hours diagnostics on it and thought it was the turbo.

Why did he have them off?

Probably on the right track to be checking fuel pressure, injector leak back and things like that. State of health of the DPF. Throttle bodys clogging with carbon was popular on these too, dont think it'd cause stalling like that though.

I'd stick with the fuel system checks first, has it a genuine fuel filter in it? Check fuel pressure is within spec and injector leak back, check the in tank lift pump is going ok, go from there.

    I dont envy you.

Thanks. I can change a puncture that's about it. Do you recommend anyone around north Dublin? By any chance.

Think my garage put in a fuel filter. Doubt it's genuine?

Sounds awful like fuel pump/injector issues, but if VW did 4 hours of diagnostics on it, I can't understand why they haven't pinpointed what the issue is. They should be able to get a precise reading on the fuel pressures and tell if that's the problem

Yea they said the level or values were way off on the turbo so they said that was it. They are being fair enough about it. They are going to look again at it for me so fingers crossed. Its just i need it fixed asap. It's going on weeks upon weeks at this stage. Also after my friend looked at it he realised he couldn't do what he said he could which was replace some flap. When he put the parts back in the steering wheel buttons didn't work and the radio had a constant power to it draining the battery? I had to take out the radio...im wondering what did he really do cause i never had the issue before that

Might not be same issue but had something VERY similar on my 2003 Passat. It was intercooler pipe had a hole in it.

    Hmmm
Dont let your friend touch your car ever again.
Find a good independent mechanic, explain what your friend did and see if they can undo it..

    I completely agree.

Unfortunately it depends on the fella you get on it on the day, hard to get good lads at the minute. We've a well kitted out workshop and we've taken on few lads lately who had good CV's and interviews but they couldnt diagnose a puncture.

You cant hold their hand from 8.30-5.30, they are supposed to be qualified lads and again, unfortunately in between when they are hired and when they are sacked, it's the customer who suffers.

That said, if I'd paid a main dealer 4 hours labour, plus an intake manifold or a turbo and the problem was still there, I wouldn't be taking it lying down. A decent main dealer workshop should be at the root cause of most issues within the first hour unless it's something very peculiar.

Ok thanks. For all the help. They didn't charge me for the 4 hours diagnostics and i needed the mainfold for another issue which is now resolved.

Logistically not around the corner but if anyone can fix it, these lads can. Well up on VAG too.

    http://www.daltons.ie/

Can’t t get over 2K rpm or am I reading that right? If so, she’s in limp mode.

Ok thanks for everybody's help but i got it fixed. Went to diesel injector repair in north west business park d15. They fixed it in an hour. Straight away they saw the fuel pressure was far too high. I had to get the return pipe and valve replaced with an original vw and im back in business. These guys know their s**t! Joe Duffy VW finglas you should be ashamed of yourselves with your 'head' mechanic suggesting clutches and turbos and anything else that costs a bomb. This guys diagnosed this issue in 30 seconds.
