    Hi,

My company pays for my health insurance.
The health insurance only pays back 50% for doctor physio and denitst visits.
Can I claim tax relief on the remaining 50% cost for those visits.
The health insurance does not cover prescriptions, can I claim relief on them?

    Thanks,

    G

Yes you can. You declare it in the health section on my revenue when you complete the p12.
You can claim for up to 4 years.
I could be wrong but with the revenue changing no more p12 forms from now on but I am certainly open to correction.

Yes. You claim the relief via an eform 12 through your Revenue My Account for the tax year(s) when the expenses were incurred. You must have the backup to support the claims(s) but you don't have to submit them unless requested.

You can claim back the 50% the insurance does not paid as the previous answers have said via MyAccount and its section for Medical Expenses and you have 4 years you can review in that area. That said you can only claim the doctor GP expenses, the physio if it has been prescribed by a doctor, non-routine dental expenses (filings and visits to the hygienist/dentist are not covered but you get a "free visit" to the dentist under the Prsi scheme, talk with your dentist about that) and you can claim in full the cost of prescriptions.

Under the Prsi scheme (I don't exactly know the name) you are also entitled to a eyesight check every two years for free.

If your company pays for your health insurance you may want to check that you are receiving the Medical Insurance Relief. If a person pays itself it is automatic but if it is your employer paying I think most of the times is not and you have to request it.

    Thanks all.
I've started to go back and figure the remaining I can claim.
