Civic Mk9 1.8?

It seems to hard to get in Ireland. Was looking at Fabia Mk3 estates, it won't go bigger than 1.2l.
Is the 1.8 petrol good choice, still solid? Currently have a VW derived 1.4, 86 horses, can't complain though, does its job dilingently, only the extra oomph missing.
3-4 year UK examples going for the same money as the Skoda estates, so it got me thinking. Cannot do a VRT calculation as it has the 1.8 with 205g/km CO2 when it's 145.
Is the hatchback's boot big enough to swallow a bicycle without a problem?
I want to have a reliable car with a larger lump before too late.
    Thank you!

To give you an idea of the boot, the hatchback can get 2 washing machines in with the seats down. The estate is obviously bigger again.

The 1.8 is a great engine but it can get pretty loud if you’re driving hard. Not a big deal

It should have all the models, it 100% has my 2012 EX GT. In the VRT drop down don't select the Civic 1.8 option. Select "Civic" and the engine capacity is 1798 in the follow on prompts.

That should bring up all the models for the 145 co2.

Oh and the boot with folded down seats is enormus. I've had mine over 2 years now and still love it, great car.

Thank you to all, looks good then.

How do you find the all around visibility? The rear is sitting higher compared to the average and looks a bit narrow too. I want to be aware of my surroundings just looking around.

Not great out the back, fine everywhere else.

I wouldn't consider one unless it had the reverse camera, took me a few goes to actually trust the camera in mine but it's top notch.
