How a yas? I’m looking advice on costs and materials for a lane way. It’s 100 yards long and 5 wide. There was old one there at some point long ago. It’s a straight run and a drain either side of it 30 and 40 yards long. It’s just to acess a old yard

Access by what, cattle, sheep, machinery, car? All year long or just Summer? A small bit more info would be a big help:)

Well you can probably nearly halve the width regardless of how you surface it. No point putting in 5 yards wide unless you need it.

15ft? For machinery you would want to go to that in my opinion as none of it is getting any smaller.

What machine do you have that needs a 15' wide surface?

I'm not talking about width between fences. Just width of the surface. He said the lane already exists and is that wide. He won't need 15' wide of stone or whatever he wants to put down

It’s just for our own machinery around a grazing block so can’t see it getting too advanced too quick but I do see where your coming from

What type of lane is there already, what type of subsoil what is the heaviest (tonnes) travelling on it.

Ok I would mean fence to fence. I have one that is 12' and the contractors self propelled needs it all with the 70° bend on it.
