Enquiring for a mate, the kia is a 2.2 auto, 2017 with 30k miles, kodiaq a 2018 with 12000 miles

    36k for kia

    38 k for skoda

Road tax is 750 on the sorento

He found that the sorento had more welly but the kodiaq handled better

Kodiaq will surely be a better proposition in terms of resale and running costs.
Sorento is fugly and not that nice inside IMO. It’s prob a little bigger than the Skoda to be fair.

He says the sorento had more power but the kodiaq felt better to drive, I've only seen the sorento from the outside, they leave me cold

You can't be matching like with like on engines. I owned a Sorento and it was relatively quick (not fast). Mine was a 2012 top of range 2.2 with 62 in about 9.6 but newer versions seem to get to 62 a bit slower at about 10+ due to the push for better economy \ lower road tax.

I've just ordered a Kodiaq 4x4 Style with 190 bhp, less BHP than the Sorrento but much quicker and as other said better handling. Tax is 390.

The Kodiaq is much smaller than the Kia which in particular has a massive boot but it's still relatively large (new X3 size).

I've driven both cars off-road as well (bogs, forest tracks, wet grass, fields etc.) and the Kodiaq comes out on top.

IMO Kia need to up the game with a new diesel engine for these cars to give more power and still get better economy \ tax. The last few new refreshments just retuned everything, improving at one point and taking away at the other end.
