What does 50.0 uT reading of radiation mean? Is it dangerous and harmful at that level? Note the u has line coming down from it.

    Thanks.

If the u has a line coming down from it, you're fcuked.

    That's the one.

    Are you sure it's 50μT?

T stands for Tesla, the unit of magnetic flux density, not radiation.

I suspect Russia has just dropped a nuke very close to you.

    50μT thats it.

That's a magnetic flux density rating like Pherekydes said. It's weaker than a fridge magnet.

Where is it in the flux capacitor?

    Earth's magnetic field, no?

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

It’s probably still safe to eat.

    Avoid the 50/50 lead flux.

    Although lead blocks radiation?
    I'm not sure.

You might wanna pop a few iodine tablets :pac:

The gubberment issued us all with iodine tablets a good few years back. Take two with a glass of water and you’ll be grand.

Come back to us when you see 6,000,000 μSieverts (or 6 Sieverts). I'd be interested to meet a human who survives it.

The measurement you have given isn't a radiation calculation, its the measurement of a magnetic field.

Magnetic fields exist where current flows. They are measured in T mT or μT some countries call it gauss.

Magnetic fields have zero affect on neutral radiation. But they actually LOWER radiation that has electrically charged particles.

Earth’s magnetic field causes charged particles in the solar wind to veer around the planet towards the magnetic poles. When they hit the atmosphere near the poles, this causes the aurora borealis.

The four forms of ionizing radiation are alpha particles, beta particles, gamma rays, and, indirectly, neutrons.

Ionizing radiation can be measured using units of electron volts , ergs , and joules.

The units used are Rem (it measures the biological effectiveness on human tissue specifically) , Seivert (Sv), Rad (radiation absorbed dose) , Gray (Gy) , Curie (Ci), Becquerel (Bq).

    Only at the north pole!

Really ? I thought it was the south pole too. :P

    I must be wrong.

Nah, those would be the aurora australis. :p

So where are you getting the reading from?

FUBAR - Fluxed up beyond all radiation.

That's just the maximum reading that your device can display. It's doesn't go any higher so anything above 50.0, whether it's 50.1 or 1,000,000 will be displayed as 50.0.
