Any idea what mileage the 2008 Corolla 1.4 D4D 5 speed is likely to be good for before gearbox and / or engine trouble?
    Thanks in advance

Reputation of Corolla gearbox bearings & also trying to work out whether the engines are good for 400k+ km if serviced

Gearbox as mentioned can be hard to come by second hand. Some had oil consumption problems, probably sorted by then and toyota replaced engines under warranty. Rear axels are known for rusting away so check it for corrosion.

I’ve a 06 and it’s a serious machine, never had to do anything with it apart from get the brake calipers greased up afew times!! I think my mechanic said theres a bit of a rip in second gear alright but you wouldn’t notice it ... they’re still Unbelievably reliable in comparison to their competitors.
