She seemed to get her facts wrong on Mick Wallace, wouldn't be surprised if he complains about it afterwards.

Claire Byrne is a totally babe.
    This is painful
Adrienne Wallace reminds of rough ones that are shouting at their boyfriends in akrakebabra munching on a kebab

I wouldn't blame him,she tried to do a hatchet job on him but it backfired on her.

I would prefer Claire Byrne.RTE miss the likes of Pat Kenny on these debates.

Adrienne Wallace's plastic earrings are not very environmentally friendly.

I saw a mobile advertising truck driving around today campaigning for a Dublin Euro Candidate, a special kind of stupid.

Kenny was very good at this. Miriam is very annoying and interrupts people constantly

Where do they get these numpties from?

Everything she said about the EU army is wrong.

    Fake news.

How in the jayus could someone be 'wrongly' identified as independent when they are actually Fine Gael?

If they pay the same tax across Europe they will all feck off out of here.

Not a popular opinion there Diarmuid.. Nobody wants corporation tax changes. It's a gravy train for the State and it's citizens.

I missed the intro, does anyone know how it was decided which candidates are in studio and which just get a recording aired.

I missed the intro, does anyone know how it was decided which candidates are in studio and which just get a recording aired.

The criteria for entry into tonight's Ireland South debate on Prime Time were:

If you've won a seat or got at least 5% of the vote in your constituency in the most recent euro/local/general or presidential election.
    OR

If your party got 5% of the national vote in any of those elections or won 1 Euro seat, 3 Dail seats or 5 council seats BUT A party can't have more than one candidate in any debate.

Nine of the 23 candidates met the above criteria. The other 14 were all offered a one minute video appearance tonight. 11 accepted, one refused, one was uncontactable and one video was deemed not to be in compliance with RTE/BAI editorial standards.

I missed the intro as well and haven't a clue what are the names of most of them. I guess budget for the program didn't allow for their names to be on their podiums...

It's like they all know a little about a lot of different things.

Yes 3 nights in a row of them, I think Wednesday the media blackout begins so they needed to fit it in.

Why are these all talking about the children’s hospital???

What has that to do with the European elections?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,279 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

Offaly is in the Midlands, will always be in the Midlands and should be in the Midlands North West Constituancy.I will not be voting for any of those candidates.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,904 ✭✭✭mgn

Some of them look like the are going to face a firing squad.

Mick Wallace gets a surge in his vote after that. FF/FG sounding more like one other than ever...even starting to look alike.

Was just thinking the same thing.

But anyway the EP elections mean diddly squat, but those elected are on a gravy train.

Never hear from them again, but they pocket a great salary and expenses.

I had to look up who my MEPs are currently. I cannot be alone in that surely.

The tax evader giving about about tax evasion.

    Couldn’t make it up.

    Only Ireland.

Is Miriam running for MEP?? SHE seems to be doing most of the debating instead of just putting the topics to the candidates.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,059 ✭✭✭✭Spanish Eyes

All cobblers. No one really cares or knows who their MEPs are.

The candidates rely on domestic voting patterns, with some exceptions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,201 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

Wrong. Just because you don't inform yourself don't assume everyone is like you. Google is your friend.

He won't lose support because of that and will only gain, after what looked like a fairly blunt personal attack from RTE, that no other candidate got.

    I’m just saying.

He has a neck like a jockeys bolox.

Same people who vote for him will be given out about the MNCs.

    Sigh.

Be great if Miriam of the long vowels is castigated. Some chance.

I am not bothered by what you think of him, I am just saying of them all tonight he will pick up more support and it will be because of a hamfisted 'get 'im' attempt by RTE.
