I mean the Gardai themselves. I've heard of Gardai having time served recognised going to CS but I haven't heard of anything going the other way.

    Thanks.

As far as I'm aware, there's nothing like that. If you have a college degree though, you can apply to move up 2 increments on the pay scale once you've passed your probation.

    Serving as a Garda? No.

Garda civilian staff are still (for now anyway) civil servants so yes.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Sorry to be re-opening an old thread, have just passed probation as a CO in CS. Have a 1.1 Hons Degree - where can I get more info about "you can apply to move up 2 increments on the pay scale once you've passed your probation.". Is that applicable in the Guards only?

Hi Cribbit, I think you may have got your wires crossed. I’ve never heard of such a thing in the civil service on completing your probation.

However Forsa negotiated a deal a few years ago to try reverse the cuts made to the pay scales for new entrants post 2011 which means you would skip point 4 and point 8

Which means going from point 3 to point 5 on the date you are due to go to point 4 and the same you would go from point 7 to point 9

    That’s applicable to Gardai only.
