Trying to sell my car privately (unsuccessfully) and these guys got in touch. Quite like the idea as I see it as a win win for both dealer, customer and myself. But naturally very nervous handing my car and keys over to a stranger to sell my car for me. A few concerns I have. They claim their insurance covers my car when in their possession. Does this mean I need to cancel my policy? Also, what happens if they get points or fines when selling my car. Anyone any dealings with these guys. The man I was dealing with is the owner and did seem to be sound and straight to deal with.

Drop your price on the ad to what they would be giving you and it’ll sell on it’s own.

What often happens here is garage will take the car, then have a sale but offer you less than you bargained for. What sometimes happens (I’ve seen this) is you end up with nothing.

Garage in question is around for 6 years so maybe not as risky. I’d only give a car on sale or return to a garage as a very last resort.

I see your point. This garage has been around 20 odd years seemingly? I actually think I am more or less at where I would be if sold through a garage.

Without a contract in place to outline what happens if car is destroyed in a test drive, burnt to the ground on their premises or stolen it's not worth the risk.
