Mercedes internet radio

    Hi,
I recently bought a used 3 year old E Class.
There is a facility to connect to the internet through your phones Bluetooth.
This allows you access to Mercedes apps and Internet radio.
However once I set my phone up and establishes connection, it just sits there
    waiting, no,Internet or Radio stations.
The dealer says it wont work in Ireland because it goes through Germany and it times out before connection is established.

Can this be true, has anyone managed to get this working successfully and reliably. Is there a setting the dealer has to set for Ireland.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Jim

I have no experience with that system, but your dealer is very clearly talking out of his arse. A server in Germany is less than 50ms (miliseconds) further away from you than a server in Dublin. This will not lead to a timeout, otherwise you couldn't look at german websites either.

Most likely you haven't set up your phones hot spot correctly, or maybe it's a feature that is locked on your Merc until you pay for unlocking (I have no idea).

There are a few videos on youtube, do they not help?
