Would you still be entitled to maternity pay if you leave a PAYE job and go out to be self employed? If reading the revenue site correctly (using this year as an example) if you earn and pay enough PRSI in the full year 2018 you are entitled to it regardless?

I'd contact Welfare and ask them. They'd be paying if you can do it.

As far as I know it is assessed on the previous year so if you were looking for benefit in 2019 and were paye in 2018 and Paid a stamp you should be fine. But www.welfare.ie will have current info.
