made redundant

I have just been notified I have been made redundant from a part time job after 3 years on and off - the reason for the gap was in April 17 I was diagnosed with cancer. I was seriously ill on diagnosis with small children and an ex plus I had a very poor prognosis. I spent most of the next year in isolation, breaks with family of about 10 days and I never applied for any Welfare as tbh I never expected to be here.
I returned to work part time asap in Feb 18 but unfortunately my relationship with my partner then broke down - and his mother owns the home we shared.
So, I am now facing having no income and no home - my kids are with my ex as they needed security.
I have worked since I was 13 and left home at 16 - now I really need some advice on what to do at over 40. I spent most of my savings on hospital bills and doctors, I also broke my wrist recently which incurred more bills and I still owe about 300 euro.
Any advice - looking back I know I should have gone to Welfare on diagnosis but I didn't. TIA

go straight to community welfare officer.i know most people are bigots on this and will post terrible responses but dont be afraid...community welfare officer will want P45,recent bill from home or bank statements.explain your situation he will sign u up for medical card and welfare in one go,if not will give u forms,,been in this situation myself.passport, bills, bank statements are wat u will need for welfare make sure you have these.fill out forms as soon as possible and look for place to stay as well but remember community welfare officer first as its a emergency

The advice above is the best you will get here. Community Welfare Officer asap. Follow that up with a visit to a local TD who WILL make calls on your behalf given your circumstances. Very best of luck to you.
