Fence above wall for privacy

I've an old stone wall at the bottom of the garden which backs onto the garden of another house. There used to be a line of trees and a shed down this end but when I removed the shed a couple of the trees subsequently fell down and I'm left with a 4m gap and can see straight into their garden and vice versa (our garden is about 40cm higher).

So i'm looking for options to restore this privacy. It's also a bit of a wind tunnel and its at the sunny end of the garden so creating a bit of a sun trap would be a bonus.

The deluxe option would be to build the wall up, but I don't think it's strong enough (and it would end up significantly higher on their side).

My cheap and cheerful plan is to drive a few fence posts up against the wall and attach long lengths of 6x1 to create a fence above the level of the wall (which is quite attractive). I can probably attach the posts to the wall at the bottom to provide some extra strength.

Does this seem like a reasonable plan? Attaching posts to the top of the wall isn't really possible as it's topped with larger stones, some of them mortared on, also I don't really trust it to hold a fence on it's own...

if windy, use a hit and miss construction.
I would keep posts separate from the wall

    That is a nice wall.

You could cement concrete fence posts into the ground and use panels from above the wall. Or hiding the wall altogether. Use good quality panels if the area gets a lot of wind.

Edit. As Calahonda has said, the hit and miss panels would be ideal. The folks have them and they are vastly better than the cheap sh1te that was there before them.

Tbh I'd just use planting again.

Any fence you put up there whilst wanting to show the wall off won't look right.

Yeah, a few fuchsia bushes or the like would grow quickly and fill up the gap nicely.

went with willow screening attached to a frame made of fence posts and treated planks. Should do the job for now, will plant in front it as well:
