I have a Trek Domane AL3 and its starting to get a few scratches from putting it on the bike rack. Any recommendations for clear paint protectors for under the crossbar and downtubes where it might rub against the bike rack when mounting it and securing?

3m tape or helicopter tape. Chesp enough on eBay.

    That looks perfect. Thanks

Could you not just wrap a rag around the frame contact points?

yeah, have done that, its a tight fit with the geometry of frame and width of the bars on rack. The clear tape should work.

Get yourself down to a local builders provider and buy a length of pipe insulation, buy a guage to suit guage of your frame, cut it to suitable lengths and slip it on to the frame where required to prevent rub. It lasts forever almost.

Would the likes of central hearing pipe insulation be an option to cover the bars if the rack?

I also use pipe insulation to protect frame when using a bike stand when giving the bike a good cleaning.

thats the solution, I'll put tape on the paint and add the insulation on the rack and scratch points. Actually have some in the garage for roof bars when transporting kayak and forgot about them.
