First of a few long days this week. Looks to be another day for the sprinters?

Lets see what type of a descender he is, no chance of him staying away but you can always dream as the peloton have still not woken up.

Bunch are starting to ride now. Cross winds ahead maybe?

EDIT: Well that was a whole pile of nothing. Ended up bringing the break back with 75km to go.

The commentators are struggling to hold it together, 27km left and it is incredibly uninteresting, no more climbs or anything. I suspect bar the last km and the A4 style sprint, nothing of note left to happen.

I thought that donkey was in serious trouble, but he seems to have allied himself with the bullocks.

    Seán - "tension building"

20th time repeating that phrase in the last 50km

Rob says that it is the most exciting stage he has ever seen that has no racing.

    Right.

Why doesn't someone have a go???

Have it on silent in the background but it looks like a neutralised stage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,967 ✭✭✭De Bhál

    5km to go
all together (as they have since 75km to go)

Cos it's too fast. At least it is now.

Crash has delayed some riders, looked like 4 or 5 from team sky and possibly Capraz caught out

Dunbar was in that group behind the crash.

Just turned on 5 minutes ago, looks like I missed the boring bits as quiet exciting now!

    A4 sprinting beginning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,558 ✭✭✭at1withmyself

1.5 minutes lost for Tao G Hart and 4 other sky riders, crash outside 3km safe zone but then again froome pulled back nearly 4 minutes so not ruled out yet!

    Gaviria takes the stage now...

    Very harsh, if he is.

he completely drifted from his line in fairness, went right across the road

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,318 ✭✭✭✭Raam

Wouldn't say right across the road. Seen worse be let go.

I was surprised the commentators weren't talking about it before it happened

I think if I closed my eyes I couldn't tell the difference between Brian Smith and Greame Souness - their voices sound identical to me.

When I was watching it I thought Viviani blocked that guy and would get penalised, but no one mentioned it on Europsort. So then I just assumed I didn't know enough about the intricacies of sprinting. Italian fans will be furious.

Brian sounds like Frankie Boyle to me. Both from Glasgow (well, Paisley for Brian). Graham is from Edinburgh.

Just catching up on the sprint now, I have seen worse go unpunished but it is not a natural move and shuts the door on Moshetti, notice how Demare expects greater contact between Viviani and Moschetti and heads straight for the barriers.

Yeah, in fairness I haven't a clue, I'm sure to a native Scot they probably sound as different as a Cork man and a Dub.

I thought they mentioned it repeatedly, just not making it out to be a DQ offence but that it was dubious.

Is he DQd out of the race altogether, or just taken the win from him? reminds me of Sagan getting getting kicked out of the Tour, for a far more minor offence in my opinion.

Ah no just his result not counting, he's still in the race.

    Viviani's Italian jersey is horrible

Finally, a decent reason to penalise him

Was it Kelly who called it a pizza box Jersey earlier?

Hard decision to make - would Viviani have won without the drift across - probably.

Would Moschetti have got by him - don't know, but might have got second.

Demare moved wide as mentioned, probably cost him a place?

I suppose he didn't hold his line so by the rules gets relegated to the end of the group he was in.

Wasn't it Demare who kick-started the Cav-Sag debacle with a switch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,318 ✭✭✭✭Raam

Well, maybe not but he almost took out Bouhanni
