Weaned calves scouring

    Some of my calves have a fairly watery scour, there weaned 2 weeks now, there all on grass. Any idea what I should give them

    You could bring them in and give some pink tablets, they bind and have an antibiotic agent in them too.

    What meal are they getting ?

    If the scour is black or bloody looking then its probably coccidiosis..get on to the vet..they usually get it at the stage when put out to grass

    On calf rearer from Glanbia, I’ll get the dung tested and see what the vet. Maybe the grass is a bit rich

    Yeah I’ll get it tested, it’s not that black fairly normal colour just watery

    Something similar happened to me with Autum calves and powder C cleared them up
    Also got the dung tested and it came back clear

    Wonder is there too much molasses in that along with fresh grass.
    Even temporarily a change to straight rolled barley would help tighten things up.

    It might be, they were eating straw when inside, so maybe there diet is a bit rich now
