Two women today told me someone had made dating profiles using their pictures.

One just with her head and then body pics of someone else.

Another was a pof profile that someone made with this girls pictures ...some of the pictures even had her son and boyfriend in them.

Has it happened to you personally?

Apologies if I got that wrong.

    Either way it's weird.

I don't think it ever happened to me but I don't have many pictures of myself on the web.

They were using pics from birthdays and social events of one girl. And just portraits of the other girl and the rest of the pics on that profile she had never seen before.

Can she report those photos to the sites in question?

My BIL has had it done to him 5-6 times. His very attractive gay man, so it's hilarious when straight men use his photo

Yes, I have made a profile using my pics.

I have also made a profile using your pics, OP.

A lot of the time they're just fake bot profiles that pull pics at random.

Maybe it was still really creepy.

I’m sure you’re lovely, but I’m finding it had to give you credibility due to the fact that you’re a brand new poster and you have 35 posts per day.

I’m in a photoshop group, free edits, mostly Americans. You should see some the requests.. adding heads to full army regal, fake pregnancy tests.. body swaps etc.. crazy **** and anything goes, if you don’t like it, scroll on by. Ten minutes after I joined I could see why catfish is such a huge show.

    WTF?

    WTF?

Yup.. regular request. The army one gets me as well, these guys just going to head straight online claiming to be some vet conning someone out if money somewhere.

Most requests are just trolled and it’s part of the rules that you allow that, but what bothers me more is the amount of people stick pics of their kids up.. the group has 130k + members .. nuts, at this stage I’m only there for madness. I only do normal edits now for people, dogs/ background, normal stuff.

    ..take it as a compliment?

Yep. Discovered that somebody in England had made a Tinder profile using photographs of me found around the web and most of my life backstory, and of course here's me happily married in California at the time. Discovered this when the woman he was chatting up, at least one of them, I'm not aware if there are others, saw one of my videos where I was wearing a wedding ring and started asking difficult questions. He then ghosted her, she tracked me down on Facebook, and it took a while for me to convince her that no I was not actually talking to her on Tinder. In fairness to Tinder, once I reported it with substantiating information that it wasn't me, which was easy due to the geographic nature that Tinder works on, they took his profile down quite quickly.

I still have no idea who it was or what his end goal was, but I presume it's an occupational hazard of being a minor celebrity in your field that these things happen from time to time.

Nobody would use my Tinder pics, but there's an obvious question here.

Why doesn't Tinder (or any other app) just search the Internet for your profile pics as a way of establishing whether it's a photo taken from the Internet? True, some people might rip a picture from their own social media profiles, but that should just be queried with the user, or the user asked for a selfie.

I don't think they have many human employees.

    Its a good idea though.
