We have at least a week of fine weather ahead. Would you spread can now or wait until rain is due. Will it volitise or will it be fine. I know grass won’t grow with fertiliser in the bag

Still have urea here. Will I get any suitable time to spread it this year?

You could nearly still spread it on paddocks with covers on them as dew in mornings will get it into ground.walked through a very heavy paddock at 10 am this morning and a lot of moisture at bottom of grass.

I have a dry farm and my fertilizer requirements every year are 4T 18-6-12, 2T can and 4.5zt urea. half the 18-6-12 wuuld be urea except no difference in price between can and unreal version for 2 ton

If we do not get urea weather soon we will be in more trouble than last year

I am very low on grass. We haven’t had any rain for two weeks. That east and north wind has left the place as dry as a desert. 5–7 days of dry weather coming it won’t really Grow grass. The ring feeder is not far away

You could be in for another long dry summer. That high pressure is whats know as a blocking high which could make the dry weather last for weeks.

The good folks over in the Weather forum are hinting at crap weather after this week

Shaking a bit extra on Monday just in case there is going to be a repeat of last year.

    Quare spring for Grass.

They say January's grass is never eaten, long gone at this stage

Grass will need a minimum of 1 unit of N a day now so get it out.

Not much dew on the ground this morning. Weather looks very settled now too.
I was going to spread some cut sward yesterday but opted to go with CAN instead as it works better in dry weather.
If this dry spell lasts a few weeks ground with cut sward on it would be on fire

Current thinking is this dry spell might only last until next weekend anyway, wet weather moving in from the east then
So all week west is best and definitely by next weekend

AFAIK there is no different in the N in cut sward or CAN

No difference, its the diammonium phosphate (the P in NPK) that causes grass roots upturn in dry weather. Thats what will turn a green field brown and on fire if the moisture disappears.
On the other hand if the weather breaks down after the week then it would not be a problem
