Can someone please recommend a sunshade for my two rear windows, that actually work

Baby number three now and yet to find a good one, always ended up using a blanket over the window

Ps, can't afford to splash out 75/100 on the custom made ones lol

    It's a 2009 focus if it makes a diff

Have you tried the ones that go over the window entirely inside and out.. Hate the look of them myself but I wonder do they work..

We have them on both cars and they are fantastic, not the prettiest but they are very effective so that's all that matters. Got them on Amazon for about £20.

I have my back windows tinted, I’ve found it amazing!

Imo you can't beat getting rear Windows tinted for babies blinded by blaring sun from my own experience.

its not expensive for rear 3 windows what kinda car outve curiosity ?

I got my last tinted professional job 120 blips on passat sure you would nearly spend that on some mediocre half a***d halfords window shade thingys imho

Just seen the focus bit ha my other halfs tinted focus 110e ??

I have tried a few different types. The over the door ones are great but the flapping in the wind got very annoying.

If you could afford to get the windows tinted it is definitely the way to go. It doesn't matter if its not a sports car. Plenty of cars have rear tinted windows for family reasons.

My current car is a Ford Galaxy and it has 5 rear windows all tinted.

If your kids are rear facing, having the back window tinted is also very beneficial.

This thread has inspired us to get the back windows tinted. For those that have, do you know how dark you went?

I assume it's graded by how much light gets through. Thinking 5% is a bit too dark, probably 20% is right but just guessing

We were going to use Dublin Tint down the Long Mile Road, they get plenty of good reviews on Google. Long shot, but if anyone used them did you go for Classic, High Performance or Avant-garde? Hard to know how much paying extra gets you and how much is marketing BS

I got mine done in Cork last year. He had three shades, light, medium and dark. Are the shades you mention above just fancier names for the same? Anyway he recommended medium. He said dark would be for limos. It cost 140 euro. It's brilliant. My two are in extended rear facing seats and no longer complain about the sun.

    Cheers cornflake

The light/medium/dark would be the percentage, I guess using percentages isn't standard

The levels differ by heat reduction, likelihood of fading over time etc. I suspect it's mostly BS but not sure, seems like it's €130, €180, €230 depending on the quality. I doubt the top one is worth almost double the basic one

Wow I am definitely going to look into windo tinting!
Does it affect the driver’s visability looking out the window?
Will it keep the car cool in summer?

I only have the back windows tinted, but it doesn’t affect visibility- the kids can see everything out their windows, and I can see out my rear view mirror. I don’t think the car is any cooler though. But I think it’s great for security too, I wouldn’t be as worried about something being left in the boot or on the back seat that someone might see!

I found the fabric ones over the window work great.
I had no issue with them flapping in the wind - they can be adjusted to fit tight (the ones I bought anyway).
Very hand as can be easily taken off and were great when travelling abroad - as could open the window, and no insects would fly in, and still block sun.

As far as I remember, I went for the second darkest option and he had a good few in the van.

    I used atint https://www.coatek.ie/products/a-tint-vehicle-tinting/

They came to the house and did it on site.

I was able to use my Dad's garage nextdoor for them to work in.

On the tech specs sheets at the end of their page only the last one (70%) states that it is NCT approved. Does that mean that the other variants/shades offered aren't?

You can go as dark as you want on the back windows it's only the front drivers and passengers window that you have to worry about for Nct
