Just got Irish car reg (UK import) this morning at 9AM.

How long do I have to wait before i'll be able to tax online?

Presuming I use the reg and last 6 digits of VIN? Didn't work, but not surprised as the Irish reg wasn't showing up for insurance either.

I think I was able to tax mine about 24 hours after I paid the VRT.

When you get the certificate (Log Book)you can tax it straight away online with your VIN Number. I got my reg yesterday and just transferred the insurance to the Irish Number over the phone, Should have my Cert today so i can tax it then.

You don't need the Reg Cert/Log Book.
The guy in the VRT centre told me what the online Tax PIN would be, and I just used that and the Reg no.

Usually works the following day. Not sure if it's 24 hours or just after an overnight upload but should be able to tax it tomorrow morning.

For an import, the issuing of the registration cert is only initiated by taxing online with the PIN given to you, so don't wait for the cert or it'll be a long wait :)

Yeah thanks I'm familiar with the process? Just not the timeframe to refresh/update.

    Will try tomorrow AM

Last one I did was VRTed around 5pm and I was able to tax the following morning.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

It says it at the bottom of the reg reciept you were given, next working day
