Might trade in for this if the trade in price comes right to me.

I'm going down in milage to what I have, the beamer has just over half what I'm driving at moment.

But is there anything in particular I should be worried about with the milage in this?

Timing chain issue should be sorted, I know theres a recall on the EGR. Besides that would you have any quifs with this?

    Opinions please and thanks.

A good service history is a must. Check for regular oil changes and see has it had the egr recall. Check brake discs for lips, the 520d is a big heavy car and goes through brake components and tyres fairly quickly.

Other than that, they are pretty reliable. You'll get the usual posters telling you to avoid that engine with the timing chain issue but if it's been serviced yearly it will be fine. Numbers of chain failures dropped drastically after 2011 and the B47 engine is upgraded again so it will be fine

There's no way I would buy one without the professional sat nav (wide screen) and m sport.

Get UK one for much better spec for same cost.

There seem to be a couple of options for retrofitting a larger screen in these for reasonable money. The likes of AliExpress etc have multiple options. Anyone tried it?

They tend to include Android auto etc and seem to look well.

That one has a few nice options, upgraded alloys, sports steering wheel, paddle shifters. It may be a N47 or B47. Easy way to tell is check the engine, B47 has a smaller engine shroud.

A couple of common F10 issues to look for that can prove expensive:
F10 door corrosion (most fixed under warranty but it often comes back, look for blistering paint at the top leading edges of the doors.
Yellow grommet at bulkhead (water ingress)

Head units can fail and are €1000 plus.

And for other things. Although I suppose you could say a quif is a pressure related emissions issue, for some ladies. Doesn't have much relevance to a BMW though.

Then again, some might say that the people who drive BMW's and where a quif emanates are one and the same!

    :D
