Thanks to another Boardsie for sending me a PM reminder on this.

RTE Radio are doing their annual marathon broadcast again this weekend.
Sunday, May 5th, beginning at midnight. During our seven-hour journey, we'll travel from East to West, visiting locations from India to Iceland, as we team up with EBU broadcasters and BirdLife International ornithologists to bring you the very best of early morning birdsong from around the world!

Always a joy to hear and very informative.

It might also teach some people a few of the more common songs and calls.

I had reports of Cuckoo and Sky Lark a few weeks ago, that turned out to be a Wood Pigeon and a Wren, so perhaps more people should be encouraged to tune in to this. :)

Very nice show indeed...and in case anyone does not want to stay up late, it always can be played back on demand through the player or any podcast app.

Also over the next few weekends there are a few dawn chorus activities people can go to. They normally start at 4am/5am so people can go before going to bed/after getting up depending on your lifestyle and if you have young kids :)

I think it's because they start in Asia and move West as dawn progresses.

Terrible stuff, it reminds me of the voting in the Eurovision circa 1973!!
