JSA after finishing self employment

I was working self employent from 2015 but deregistered in February of this year. I didn’t apply for jsa as I was under impression I could only claim it after finishing a paye job. But I was told recently I may be entitled to it as I paid usc and prsi the past four years. Am I able to back date payments from February when I finished employment or would it be from date of application?
    Thanks

jsa claims cannot be backdated, they are dated from the date you have your appointment to hand in forms etc
