    Hi Folks

I’m looking to scrap my car, I see online a number of companies that provide this service and will issue a cert of Destruction, my question is do I tell Motor Tax after the car has been scrapped or does the company that scraps the car tell them?

    Thanks

from memory they give you a scrap cert in return for the log book. you do not need to tell Motor Tax they get notified in a smiliar way to a change of ownership via the log book.

The scrapyard will send the documents to Shannon. You don't have to do anything.

The scrapper will fill in a cert of destruction. You get one copy they keep one and one goes to Shannon to tell them
