Lads, as i've mentioned in other topics i'm looking to change car from a 2014 Seat Leon Tdi
Probably quicker to build one myself as i've chopping and changing my mind by the week. :)
But want to get it sorted in next couple weeks if i can as i've a few long trips coming up in June and would like to be sorted by then

Annual miles of around 25,000 so a good lot of driving

Was thinking i'd like a SUV/Crossover all along

    But now thinking saloon

I've seen an Octavia 2016 Style trim and Avensis 2015 Luna

Both similar in mileage, price, etc. Spec seems similar, Toyota has reversing camera extra i'd say. I don't think Skoda have one?

Of those which would people go for?

Or any other recommendations. I always like the Hyundai i40 when it came out but recently it looks a bit big and awkward to my eye. Anything else?

The Avensis is from the segment above the Octavia, but the lines are blurred as the Avensis is small compared to the current Mondeo and Passat, and the Octavia is big compared to the likes of a Golf.
The Octavia has the advantage of being a liftback, plus it’s a more modern design than the avensis (which in its final incarnation came out a little over 10 years ago) It’s also not like the Avensis is amazingly well built in comparison to the Skoda either.

Why are you changing the SEAT?

Just to note the octavia style would have reverse sensors also.

It's also hard to ignore how practical it's big boot is

Very happy with the Seat in many ways but have put up 18,000 miles since mid Sept so was thinking of changing while it would still be worth a bit as a trade in. Its got 67,000 miles on the clock now which is ok but will start to get fairly high soon in comparsion to age if i keep it going at the current rate of driving

I also have some cash available now that i probably won't next couple years so its a case of change now or wait until around 2022. I'm thinking if i change now i'm hoping to keep for 3-5 years.

Thanks. Sensors yes but would it have the camera at that trim?

As far as i know the Avensis in Luna has the reversing camera included. I've never had one anyway so not a big issue just a little extra that i noted

    Ms

Kia Optima, Peugeot 508. Very comfortable car to travel in and drive the 508 and the Optima still looks good and will no doubt age better than the Hyundai i40.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

That doesn’t make economical sense. All you’re doing is setting up the newer car to depreciate the same as the SEAT is doing right now, plus paying out a dealers profit margin to do so.
You can’t buy your way out of depreciation unfortunately and every time you move you’re spending extra money.

Ya i know what you mean. I suppose i probably like the idea of changing too as much as anything especially as i think this will be my last change for a bit

Since i've posted on this last week i've been keeping an eye out and noticed how few Avensis there actually are on the road in the 2015 age category. I would always have classed the Avensis as very common in Ireland but maybe pre 2014 i'd say

Obviously a lot of Octavia's around

They hadn’t really updated it much since 2009 so it’s natural sales dropped. Product cycle on them would usually have been 6 years so from November 2014 it was on borrowed time.

I’m still open minded enough about looking outside both.

Mazda 6 nice looking car but as mentioned here before the diesel mazdas get a bad review?

Pity as it’s a good looking car

Was looking there on Carzone. The Passat CC is great looking too, expensive though

I have/ had an Octavia. I got an after market camera from eBay and got it fitted. If maintained well, they are bulletproof cars.
Put the rear seats down and a 6 ft door fits in an estate with the boot closed.
