    Hi
Quick question and I am hoping it’s a easy fix, last few times I have tried to turn on the hot water it trips the switch on the fuse board. Now it’s not staying on at all. Do I need to replace the immersion element? It’s about 5 years since he had it changed because we have a lot of limescale in our water.
Or do we need an electrician?
Really hoping it’s not an expensive job....

    Thanks

Your immersion needs changing, good plumber or electrician would do the job.

Thanks for the reply, I suppose we are looking at a couple of hundred euro? Also the fact it gone back to where it’s next impossible to get trade men to do small jobs.

Is the immersion down on the side of the cylinder or on the top?

You can get stainless steel immersions that should last a lot longer.

Please follow site and charter rules. "Resistance is futile"

Then it's usually a straightforward job, shouldn't be too difficult to find someone to do it.

    Thanks
You would think it would be easy to get someone, rang my usual plumber..out the door ( his words ) big job in Dublin wouldn’t see me for next 3 weeks and the other 3 I rang are the same all under serious pressure to get houses finished.
I gave my usual lad a lot of work during recession when building an extension and as did my brother with a full rewire. All falling over themselves to do small jobs then.
I definitely can’t blame them taking the work while it’s available.
