There's no problem changing to non runflats, just make sure you have some solution in case you get a puncture in the middle of no where, as I presume you have no spare.

Are the rims on bmws the same for both run flat and non run flat?

You should be able to fit non-RFTs to the rims. It's the other way round that's the problem.

We did fit non-RFTs for a while but we've since gone back to Michelin ZPs. I'd avoid Conti and especially Bridgestone RFTs personally.

It's not advised to mix non run flats and run flats. Either go with one type or the other.

I have Bridgestone drivegaurd run flats and find them very good. Nice and quiet too.

I have Conti runflats, and find them perfect. Had two new ones put on last week!

I have run flats on my Mini. They are too harsh.I rang a large chain tyre dealer a while back to get a price for tyres so I will have an idea of cost. The guy on the phone said to me you cant put non run flats on a car that has run flats without getting a letter from your insurance company. I said to him that's bull. I will be changing them as soon as needed to non run flats. There is a can of goo in car from new and I have my own tyre air compressor.

Lads what runflats would ye recommend? I have bridgestone potenzas on mine from new and they have about 4-4.5 mm left. Can't wait to reef them off I hate them. I'm not going to switch to non rft's, I just don't want to risk being stranded somewhere. I hear dunlops are good and i had pirelli p zeros on my last 5er and they were decent.

Fellow I work with got a new set of Pirelli's last week and was happy with them. Had them previously.

I stuck with the Conti's as I had them on before and was also happy with them. (Based on a 245/40/19)

Ireplaced the Bridgestone OEM tyreson the back of my 420 with Michelin PS4’s . The Bridgestones were decent in dry but poor in any kind of wet conditions, it didn’t need to be raining. The New tyres are absolutely amazing in the wet, once there’s a bit of heat in the tyres there’s so much grip it’s like a different car. They’re a serious price but well worth it

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 AS3 on mine since I bought it and had them on my last F10 too. Cannot fault them for low road noise and grip especially in the wet. Only downside is the rim protector on them is not very useful against curbing. The AS3 has been replaced by the AS5 now but I have yet to find them for sale online in those sizes in RFTs.

I will need to start replacing mine towards the end of the year so I'm watching prices at the moment and camskill are the cheapest for online prices at present:

Probably safer to inform them if OEM fit was run-flat but it's up to you.

One thing to note is that my insurance breakdown cover had a clause that attending for tyre failure won't be covered unless there is a spare in the car if there should be one, so if you fit non-RFTs with no spare that could be an issue.

We had the S001s. Never again. Wore out in about 12k kms! No reason for it!

The last two sets have been Michelin Primacy 3 and we'll be sticking with them. Can't yet get Primacy 4 in our size.

Expensive but well worth it imo.

Using Goodyear Eagle f1’s for the past while on my Bmw and found them to be a great tyre, last visit he only had Goodyear excellence in stock and so far so good. Low road noise, good in the wet and not too bad price wise either.

I’ve an f10 and will be swapping out to non run flats. Looking to change stock from 245/40/19 to 245/45/19 front and rears from 275/35/19 to 275/40/19. Should be plenty of clearance?

I recently changed tyres on my 3 series.

    I ordered 2x 225/45'17 and 2x 255/40'17 non run flats.
Then I found out I currently have run flats, it was no problem to fit and it feels much smoother now.

Did you organise a spare wheel or rely on the tyreweld spray?
What about a jack etc. or will you bother?

I didn't bother with any of those.
I mean I do less than 7'000 km per year, I only drive 15 km to work every day and that's only on M50 (From Sandyford to Tallaght exit).

Will probably grab tyreweld spray and keep that in the boot for quick emergency.

Turns out the dealer is putting on new Eagle F1's all round (says couldn't get 275's for the rear Primacy 3's anymore) - I note a poster above rates them highly... any other feedback?

I am on my second set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Assy 3 runflats.

I cannot fault them. They are more than capable at outperforming the car (F10).
