I should have a set of bb7 brakes to go with it too, stem also but no seatpost. Can throw in a branded saddle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,520 ✭✭✭Alek

Jaysis, brakes alone are worth the money. Its a steal; if it was only larger I would be half-way thinking where to hide it from the better half, at this stage... ;)

Fine job, looks really nice! ðŸ‘

What’s the transmission setup you have on there?

It's a 1x set up 34 tooth up front and I can't recall if it's a 12-32 or a 12-36 out back but either way very low gearing. I'll upgrade the cranks and chain ring at some point but it was built out of the spares box to keep costs as low as possible thanks in no small part to Borderfox I had pretty much all the components to begin with :D. When I do feel like spending a few quid i'll be changing the tyres to some panaracer gravel kings, new cranks and probably a carbon seat post.

    Purple cables! Deadly.

(bit of a back story: seeing this particular bike on the street one day led to two things: meeting Colm18 and purchasing my first proper bike, Genesis CdF :) Good to see it again looking as good, if not better, than on that day)

Ah that's cool man I wonder how many boardsies will get their greasy mitts on her. :D

I ordered some cheap bags off of planet x lastnight so will be interesting to see the quality. They have some neat little deals though and I'm trying to avoid putting a rack on if I can.

They're Conti double fighter 3 1.9". I think I got the pair for under €30 delivered but the wheels are 26" the wheel size was done specifically as I noticed a bit of a cheat on the madness of tyre prices for the more popular sizes. I've no idea on performance of they tyres.

I till be changing them to a set of tan wall tyres at a later date I think they would look better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,520 ✭✭✭Alek

26"? Whoa, isn't the BB too low now? Amazing there was clearance for 1.9".

Interesting, as I've an old bike I'm cobbling back together, and it runs on 26" wheels.

I do think the tan sidewalls would look the business, especially with the saddle and tape

Not that I've noticed as yet but I don't plan on dropping off anything crazy on it so I'm not to concerned for the minute but the tyre probably lift it a bit. :D I do plan on giving the wicklow way or part of a bit of a bash later in the summer so time will tell.

You're going to leave some crankarm shavings on these rocks, here and there ;)

I've left plenty on the mountain bike over the years so nothing new there. :D I may swap out the wheels before hand I'll try a few practice runs with gear etc I plan on making a bit of a trip of it with the hammock & tarp. I'll need the rest either way :D Plan to bail in wicklow over to the home place at some point.
