Male sexual harassment stories

First and foremost, I do not in anyway want to detract from female sexual harassment and assault. Male sexual harassment tends to be on the lower end of the spectrum unless it's work related and persistent by a boss. And would be considered nowhere near as threatening.

But maybe a thread on male sexual harassment experiences is in order just to get it out in the open?

Now I'm in my forties, so this is going back 20 years...
My best days are behind me and I was good looking but painfully/chronically shy in my early 20's.

1. I was working as a lounge boy during college.
Serving a large tray of drinks to a table with 3 men and a woman and while I was trying to unload the tray the woman (in her late 20's/30's) started groping my ass for a long time... we're talking 10-30 seconds depending on my historic perception memory.... I really didn't know how to handle it and just kept doing my job unloading the drinks and ignoring her. Walked away without a word. But that was criminal by todays standards.

2. I was on a hospital trolley in pre-op in St. Vincents hospital with just one female nurse monitoring me. We got talking about her studying child psychology and I said I was reading Freud on the various anal, oral and phallic stages of childhood development (sounds quite suggestive now) but at the time I was a bit clueless !
I was naked under a surgical blanket, but she leaned on my crotch for a very long time, definitely knew what she was doing.
Maybe the nurses where playing games with young men, trying to get them to have a hard before wheeling them into the surgical theatre ?
In fairness if she wasn't flat chested and sporting more of a moustache than myself she might've had a chance. But it would've definitely be in the sexual assault category in hindsight these days.

They were the main incidents, but I certainly would pity any woman working in a pub god knows how much hassle they get.

A male bouncer used squuece my crotch on nights out at college at first I thought it was some type of searching while entering the club but he could do it randomly during the night as well. He did it to other guys to and nobody knew how to deal with it.

In all fairness, I thought the same when going to Beaumont Hospital, pretty hot nurses but I think they're being polite.

Now, there are those cases (in the UK and America) of doctors/nurses getting sexual with patients but if you consider it from their perspective, it's a lose-lose situation completely. Even a bit of evidence of professional misconduct and their entire career is ruined. Especially since a lot of nurses in Beaumont and St Vincents are student nurses.

I was waiting to go into theatre once, lying on a trolley like yourself OP, naked below a gown.

Suddenly this man dressed in white comes walking over to where I lay on the trolley, and without saying a word, lifted my gown, had a good look at my naked body, made a by of a mmmm sound, seemed to tut to himself as if in approval, and then walked over to s bunch of other men in white, whispered something to them, and then they all one by one did the same thing.

I got the impression that they either really didn't like what they seen underneath the gown, or were really happy with what they had seen, but regardless, they were impressed by something.

I worried a bit i have to be honest and felt obliged to ask one of them what it was that was had them interested so much in this patient.

Suddenly I got one of their attention, summoned himself over towards me, and just asked him, "Doctor you have me worried here, I mean you obviously seen something that either had you concerned or else impressed by what you'd seen from under my gown"

He then informed me that he wasn't a doctor. He was one of six painters in to touch up the corridors.

I know a guy who was working as a carer years ago to a disabled man. The guy being cared for was difficult to deal with and kept propositioning the carer for 'favours.' The carer guy was gay but made it clear it was unprofessional and he wasn't interested.

He took it light-heartedly, probably I suppose because there wasn't any physical threat but still he wasn't exactly delighted about the situation.

I was on a short flight recently and a guy next to me was a few drinks to the good. He started playing flirty and touched the inside of my thigh. I didn't really know what to do. I felt very uncomfortable, but thought it would make things worse if I told him to get the f off me. We landed and I was out of there. Made me think it must be awful to be a woman and in horrible situations like that too frequently.

I'm not in anyway condoning abuse or harassment or exploitation of staff, but just to point out that there is a very real problem about access to sex for many people with disabilities. In Australia, there is a service available from legal sex therapists to provide a sexual outlet for those who might otherwise never experience any form of sex.


This slightly bizarre case from South Africa a few years back raised some challenging issues.

I was once getting a made to measure suit (my first and only time) in Dubai and when I tried on the altered suit on in the fitting room, the tailor came in, started with checking the overall fit of the suit on me but then he kept putting his hands on my crotch and groin and leaving it there. For the first few seconds, you go through that immediate "this doesn't seem right" reaction but you say nothing as you think, maybe this is what tailors do or need to do to ensure they've measured and got the sizes correctly and if you say something, you'll come out looking like a naive idiot. Then because I didn't say or seemingly object to anything in those first few moments of shock, he started pulling, rubbing and squeezing my tackle with more pressure. Only then did I order him to stop and get out of the changing room. He was a good bit smaller than me so he could easily have gotten a box from me but I didn't retaliate and instead I just felt lousy about it but like someone said above, this is probably something girls, who are usually in a much more powerless position, go through so much more often.

I've had women (and the odd fella!!) do that whole grope, pinch, smack your ass thing occasionally on nights out etc but somehow those types of incidents (which can be irritating) don't bother me the way that incident in Dubai did. There was something seriously seedy about that....
