I have a sloped tiled roof at the front of my house over the kitchen and front door. Its a front brick house and just above the sloped roof and right before the upstairs windows is a long white strip (not sure the material of it might be metal). Its gone a different color then its original color of white. Can anyone name this strip for me please as I will need to get it replaced or repainted if possible as the faded color (turned brown) it off putting. I hope this is the right forum to ask.

Thanks for all the responses folks. Yes its the flashing after googling it. Can these be replaced or painted. I asked a professional painter about it before and he said no but wasn't too sure if he actually was telling the truth.

If it's flashing it's usually made from lead and not painted. Best stick a picture up.

its lead flashing, you can't paint but maybe someone has a suggestion for how you can clean but would be natural enough for it to be discolored, patination oil is applied when it is being installed to prevent discoloration but can still occur

Yes you can paint / repaint the flashing, but because it is Lead there is a lot of preparation work involved in order for the paint job to last. Google painting flashing for information and videos.
Alternatively you can remove whatever paint is on it and leave it in it's natural state.
Replacing flashing is a job for the experienced and should only be considered if you are having leak issues or it is badly damaged.
