Wake on LAN on Eir

I have Eir Broadband and I recently changed from Sky, I want to enable Wake on LAN but I will need to Port Forward and also use a Dynamic DNS service as I don't have a static IP Address. I last tried doing this last year when I was with Sky but Sky's router is a total POS and even when using a TP-LINK Modem router it still would not work due to Sky blocking it. I was shown how to do it by an IT guy but I have forgotten as he proved to me it was Sky's fault and it would only work within the LAN and not from the outside internet.

    1. DHCP reservation for the "Server" in your house
    2. Forward UDP 7 or 9 to that reservation
    3. Send packet

I can't assign the Broadcast address 192.168.1.255 as it is considered invalid.

Eir is deliberately blocking port forwarding I'm thinking, tomorrow is my last day in my 14 day cooling off period and either they get this resolved or I'm pulling the plug and they will never see a penny from me.

I have tried a few different routes and all the same result, Eir really are a steaming pile of ****e.

A broadcast address is unassignable to a host. You need to use a number between 0 and 255 (non-inclusive) for the server address, that's not used by the router already. Port forwarding is straightforward enough with the F2000 if that's what you're using.

Sorry are you trying to assign a device the broadcast address or port forward to the broadcast address? Tired. If the latter that might be more difficult all right. Eir make you select a device from a list IIRC, so you can't type the address? Setting the actual server IP as the forwarding address mightn't work either as the ARP entry ages out from the router, I'm not sure configuring a static DHCP entry will make a static entry in the ARP table. Worth a try.

If you can type the address and it's not accepting 255 you might be able to trick it by reconfiguring your LAN so 128 is the broadcast address.
