I’m buying a car from a dealer this week. The deal is done. Car is on uk plates and will be re reg with full nct. At the minute there is a long back log at the local nct centres. Can the dealer get the car booked in sooner or will I have to wait the two weeks for them to get it in as the current backlog is approx two weeks

Anyone can call up or hang around to see if there is a free slots for whatever reason. Sometimes people don't show up.

Isn't there a time of night you can go online to book that's just after they free up slots? 23:55 or something.

Fingers crossed so. Hoping I don’t have to wait the two weeks to get the car

Dealers can get cars in quicker, generally speaking.

If it has a valid MOT, it doesn't have to be tested afaik. They will issue an NCT cert valid to the MOT expiry date. This is a relatively recent change.

Dealers are the NCT's best customers. :)

    Not always :)

Do you mean to get the car registered OP? A lot of dealers bulk book appointments . Cancellations come up all the time for VRT & NCT

Does it have a current MOT? See my post above.

I’m not sure. I’ve been doing a small bit of research online but haven’t some across anything about this. Is this definitely the case?

How old is the car? UK cars 3 year or older get MOT'd.

You can swap the current MOT for a new NCT which will be valid until the current MOT expires.

    It’s a 152. So does this mean I won’t get a full 2 years nct so?

If it's 152 then it's not due it's first NCT until at least July, depending on what month it was originally registered in the UK.

They can book it in early voluntarily
