Hi I have had two previous provisional licences, the last one expired in 2013. I plan on starting driving again soon. I am aware as it has been expired over 5 years that I must start from scratch and do the theory test again and mandatory lessons. I’m just wondering when I apply for the theory test will I need to inform them of my previous licences and also will I have to apply for my driving test before I get another licence as usually the case when applying for a 3rd provisional? Thanks for your help

I had to do this last year, only I didn’t have to do the theory test, short answer is I never mentioned the previous provisional licences as it was treated as a first time application.

When you book the theory test online, there is no field asking you anything about your previous licences. So, it looks like it's irrelevant for the purposes of the theory test.

The first question on Form D201 asks whether you have previously held a learner permit/driving licence in Ireland. Do you mean to say you marked "No" as an answer?

I left it blank until I was called to the counter, I asked for clarification and was told to mark it as no as it was treated as a first time application.
