Stupidest thing you did that could have changed your life?

Discharged from the hospital a week ago with after drinking deicer (methanol and ethylene glycol) to get a buzz. Doctor said thankfully there's no damage to the kidneys or my vision. Says if I drank the stuff when I was in my 40s instead of 20s, I would have certainly died.

Anything like this that could have almost ruined your life?

I cared to much about what others thought of me!

Name of jaysus. How did you think you were gonna get a buzz.

OP, I'm glad you're okay but you almost certainly knew that would end badly. Maybe chat with your doctor if you feel that the impulse to do things you know may harm you is a problem you have, just to make sure you're in an okay place, and to get you sorted with some help if you're not.

    What was the buzz like?

I ran away from home when I was 7 but I was back again about two hours later when the two jam sandwiches were gone and it was nearly dinner time.

It definitely wasn't as strong as beer (ethanol) for sure but it was a gentle buzz that lasted through the next day. Cheaper than a bottle of beer (only €1.50 for 1.5 litres in Dealz) A classmate was the one who saw me drinking it and then I was taken to A&E.

Oh no it did happen. Trust me, I was and still am desperate for any type of intoxication. Drank it first thinking my vision would be ****ed but was surprised that nothing happened. Then proceeded to get more and drank little by little.

The renal doctor said he was lucky that my body didn't convert all the methanol into formic acid and cause blindness

I done the adult version, I closed down my facebook account and reactivated it again two hours later when I was wondering had anyone noticed my absence :o

Two hours is more than enough time for such silly follies.

How can you start a thread like that without actually explaining how you came to drinking the deicer.

I was keeping petrol for the lawnmower in a wine bottle but I had to just dump it out. I knew what was gonna happen some night after coming back from the pub.

You'd get the same from a pint of Harp.

One stupid thing that springs to mind is I drove home drunk one morning after a heavy night. I had a few hours sleep but was defo over the limit. Luckily I've grown up a bit since then and there won't be a repeat performance.

The weather is lovely outside, why do people sit indoors and create makeup stories for strangers to read?

Probably a higher risk of blindness with the Harp though.

I was desperate for alcohol. 20 and currently unemployed but doing the LC again.

Sucks I missed my French oral but I think it'll be rescheduled after Easter.

Yeah, the most attention seeking thread I've ever seen on here and that's saying a lot.

Yeah, the neighbours would be pissed off, with you mowing the lawn at that hour.

Do you find it easier to start working on a cold morning now?

So you drank deicer in order to get out of doing your French oral

I'd love to see that absence through illness form

    French oral usually sucks.

No, I was actually hoping to do it. I did well the last time but it's just some wanker of a classmate told the principal I was drinking deicer and he took me to A&E

At a natural hot pool in Thailand where the water was 80c or something crazy, I slipped and my friend caught me and stopped from falling in.

    Think about it often.
