Could you run in to problems at CVRT with tyres needing to be van spec design?

Not a good idea to put run flats on a vehicle that doesn't have TPMS.

My understanding is that you cannot fit run flat tyres to wheel rims that are not designed for them.

No, they will fit. You won't know you have a puncture tho

I thought the contours of the rim designed for RFTs were slightly different to support the stiffer reinforced wall of RFT? I know you can fit normal tyres to a rim designed for RFTs but didn't know you could do it the other way round.

Why would you put run flats on when the 1st thing most people do is replace them with normal tyres. They are more expensive and give a hard ride so a van designed for loads is going to be terrible unless fully loaded

being honest i have never had them and like the idea of them but i haven't had a puncture in about 2-3 years so i dont really see the need its just i got the idea and want to know the views of others, im being turned off the idea now so back searching for tyres again

I haven't had a puncture in 10 years, my friends and family had one between them in last few years. There is literally no reason to fit more expensive tires for this once off, especially when your car isn't really fit for those.

Get regular XL, Van or whatever tires were originally designed for your car and forget about run flats. Get a policy that offers roadside assistance and enjoy cheaper tires.
