Hey, I've posted on this before about needing a new car but i'm gonna give more info and hope ye can help me out.

I'm a 25 year old male and I've currently got a 2010 Nissan Pixo. It's a 1.0 and has 96,000 km's on the clock. Good wee car driving well but I'm looking to upgrade to something, stronger, more comfortable and with better specs. (A mechanic man actually said he wouldn't like to be in an accident in my car, he said that its very soft and this is one of the reasons I'm looking to change.)
I would like a hatchback and preferably a 141 or younger and I was looking at a VW Golf or a Ford Fiesta ST as I liked the look of them but I am open to suggestions.

However, then we come to the issue of price, I don't have much saved so would be looking at a loan or PCP finance. I know there is an ever growing thread in this forum about how people afford cars but I was wondering if people would be able to advise me on my current situation.

I'm currently only doing roughly 10,000 km's a year but I would like a more comfortable car for longer journeys as my current one is not ideal.

    Thanks

What's your annual budget in euro's that you're willing to spend on a car?

    Take into account:

    Motor Tax?
    Insurance?
    Petrol?
    milage per year? 10,000 KMs
    General Servicing?

    Estimate = ???

Take it from there- it's all very simple if you look at annual expenditure- the car for you will come from crunching those numbers.

Looking at a car from a private seller but the price nearly looks too good to be true.
    162 VW Polo
    18,000 miles
    €10,000.

Would a paid history check see if it's genuine?

It might raise red flags like accident or finance still owed - get a mechanic also to check it over but that’s for buying any car if you don’t know what to look for.
Is it a UK car with import duty still to pay?

Appreciate the reply. Would you take a mechanic with you to check it? It's an Irish reg.
